Who am I?

I’m a 26 year-old journalism graduate freshly returned from a year abroad where I taught English to children ranging in level from Kindergarten to Prathom six in Lopburi, Thailand.

Throughout the past year and a half I travelled alone and with others, before during and after settling into a wonderfully rural town two hours north of Bangkok. I spent New Years on a beautiful secluded beach on Haad Tien, Koh Phangan, spent two weeks surrounded by friends exploring Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pai, and another two weeks exploring Laos and Vietnam with another marvellous friend. I’ve completed my TEFL, made friends and gone to Cambodia, then traveled back to Laos, Chiang Mai and Koh Samet simply because they were places I loved. I’ve explored many of the Islands around Thailand, both on long weekends and holidays between semesters. Upon culmination of my teaching contract, and looking forward to heading home to participate in weddings of two of my best friends, I headed to Burma and Malaysia before boarding a plane for a long(er than expected) journey home.

While it wasn’t easy moving to the other side of the world from what I know and love as my home town of Toronto, it was quite the adventure. Now I’m trying to get settled back into a routine at home and experiencing the reverse culture shock of assimilating into Western culture, all the while continuing to explore who I am and who I am becoming.
